Noah's Playtime
Noah loves play time. Since he was born, he's been very observant of everything around him. He loves looking at all the colors and shapes. Moses likes play time too. He lurks around, hoping that Noah might spit up some milk (which he'll gladly clean up if we let him). This has resulted in his new nickname: "The Janitor"

Getting ready for great grandparents
I decided that we should take pictures before the arrival of great nana and grandpa Ackerson. There is no telling how the outfits will look within a minute of putting them on the babies because they are HUGE spitters. Every item of my clothing (minus socks) has been graced with the stuff.

We are so thankful for our recent visitor, the baby whisperer! As evidenced by smiles, coos and general happiness, the babies loved having Jenni around. I loved it as well!

Things that this mom has learned over the past 10 weeks...
...how to suck snot out of a tiny nose with an aspirator.
...how to get squirrelly little arms into sleeves and tiny feet into booties.
...that when all else fails, Noah loves to lay on the changing table and Ella likes to plant her face into a chest OR 'send the baby to Florida' (put the baby in the bouncy seat, set them in the bathroom, turn on the heat lamp and the shower --instant calm).
...that if somebody came up with a way to keep Ella from spitting out her paci, I would pay big bucks.
...that getting two car seats into a shopping cart and still have room for the items that I need is a bit of a challenge.
...that I can do the same thing with both of the babies and get totally different results.
...that I am so thankful to have twins on the first go round. I don't know any different.
...to watch my babies and write down what they do every few days. I can't trust myself to remember much of anything at this point and they change on a daily basis.
...that even though I am a mom, it is so reassuring to have my mom and Matt's mom around.
...that Ella was not super active in utero as previously thought --she was stretching. Nobody ever enjoyed stretching more than this kid.
...that nothing feels better than to have a baby cuddled below my chin, sleeping on my chest.
...how to simultaneously nurse, burp, comfort, and carry two babies (well sort of).
...that my children have an uncanny ability to wake up when we are sitting down for dinner. I think that they want a part of the festivities.
...that I can always fall asleep, no matter the time of day --and that a shower counts for at least two hours of sleep when you are really tired.
...that most anything can be accomplished with only one hand (because a baby is in the other arm).
...that Harvey Karp is right --babies love to be swaddled (and I can swaddle with the best of 'em now), a really loud shhhh, rocking motion and something to suck on.
...that even though they are different genders, people will still ask if the twins are identical.
...that I am so thankful for the gift of these children. They are amazing.
...that I am so thankful for my husband. He's the master of efficiency, diligent in all that he does, an encourager to this mom, and that he is (as expected) an phenomenal dad.

Spring??
We are itching for spring, big time. A couple of weeks ago, it warmed up enough to take the babies and Moses out for a walk around town (Moses was in doggie heaven). Although we have yet to get a jogger stroller, the one that we have did surprisingly well going through slush and over ice patches. Everything was fine until Noah decided that the stroller was not enough motion for him. Pish ended up taking the car seat out of the stroller and swinging it while he walked. Hey, whatever works... (did I mention that we repeat this phrase to ourselves over and over again?)
Twins v. 32 oz. Nalgene: 9 weeks
It has been a while since I posted anything so I figued that it would be good to make note of the favorite pasttime in our house...eating (that includes Mom and babies). Noah is now ten pounds and Ella is in the mid-nines. They've both acquired round tummies...and Ella even has some fat rolls on her little legs. Will post more soon (I hope!).

Wunderkind
Ella is holding her own bottle --she gets one every few days. Actually, I think that it was just a fluke thing and I have no idea when babies start to hold bottles, but I thought that it was cute.

Our very strong son
Ever since he arrived, we've commented on Noah's ability to hold up his head and look around. His latest trick is holding up his head for a long time when he is on his tummy. I think that he works extra hard to keep his head up because he LOVES to look at books.
She's waking up!
It is amazing to see these little ones change --almost on a day to day basis. In the last few days Ella has come alive. She's making much more eye contact and spending lots of time looking out the windows. So fun to see her interested in life!
