Nap Time

This weekend, Dad, Ella, Noah, and Moses all decided to take a nap... it was nice until the crying started about 10 minutes later.

Moses

Moses (our favorite little dog) has been adjusting to a new life where he is no longer the center of attention. He is quite curious about the babies, but doesn't quite know what to think. He looks bewildered when the babies cry, insists on taking their little Smart Wool booties, and has discovered that were there are babies, there is milk. Here he is trying to get Ella to play with him, but she's not interested.

Kim Johnson Photography

Our photographer friend Kim Johnson took some pictures of the twins when they were about one week old. Her pictures are awesome and we highly recommend her work. Check out her blog to see the pictures:

Sleeping

Day or night, Ella loves sleeping...

Noah loves a good nap as well.

Moses remembers when he was a puppy and used to take as many naps as he could...

Papa Pish

Ella, our champion sleeper, goes through a complete stretching routine every time she wakes up. She spends at least few minutes in the pose below before she opens her eyes.

This is Noah with his buddy Isaac who is about 8 months old. We always thought that Isaac looked small...until he was side by side with Noah.

Twins v. 32 oz Nalgene

Some friends asked that we take a picture of the babes next to a standard size object. So, here are the twins with a 32 oz Nalgene bottle --they are about 2 weeks old.

Babies so small...

As of right now, the babies 'fit' in one outfit each --their gnome sleepers. We tried to put them in preemie clothes and the torso size is right, but the length is about 4 inches too short. The ones that they are wearing below are the size that comes before 0-3 months and you can see that they are swimming in them. ..and Ella is trying out to be one of the Pointer Sisters.

They Arrived!

We have a new family members! Please join us in welcoming Ella Faith and Noah James!

On January 8, 2008, Ella entered into the world at 3:26 PM. She was followed quickly thereafter by her brother Noah at 3:43 PM. Noah weighed in at 5 lb. 12 oz, beating out his sister by 2 oz. He also was slightly taller, measuring 19.5 in. vs. Ella's 18.5 in. In terms of hair, Ella had her brother beat, sporting a full head of dark hair.

Christmas 2007

It was a low-key Christmas at the elder Potoshnick home ---I think that the only time spent on my feet was to take this photo.

Horton Thanksgiving 2007

Mom and Dad Horton joined us for Thanksgiving this year. While I had big ideas of things to make, we decided to take it a bit easier this year and go with the no-so-traditional lamb dinner. Yum! Everyone cooked and we finished the meal with Edna's Chocolate Souffle from the Fearrington Inn in Chapel Hill, NC.

New Diagnosis

As most of you know, we are expecting little Potoshnick to arrive in February. Due to some scheduling issues, and because everything appeared normal, we pushed back our 20 week ultrasound to week 24. However, we received an unexpected ‘diagnosis’ during our appointment this past Friday…twins! Yes, it is true, we are soon to be the proud parents of two babies! Though completely unexpected, in hindsight, knowing that we are having twins makes sense (no wonder Nicole’s belly seemed to grow overnight!). We are elated and a little overwhelmed with the news, yet so thankful that Nicole and the babies are healthy.

From here on out, ultrasounds will be done at the hospital and apparently, this will be a regular thing. We had been planning on not knowing the gender ahead of time, but I think that since we've had our 'surprise,' it may be a good idea to know what is coming!

New House

While we are still living with Pish's folks, we are now official residents, er, home-owners again. While processing what needs to be done before moving in, we decided to gut the kitchen. The demolition started last night around 8 PM and continues today. Pish is doing a great job and I, Nicole, am doing a great job of resting...
